At a very young age Anwan participated in theatrical projects, he then combined acting with dance in middle school where he received several awards for his on-stage performances. Anwan landed his breakthrough role of “Slim Charles on HBO’s “The Wire” in 2004. Since the sensation of Slim Charles, He has appeared in featured films such as the Oscar winning film “12 years a slave”, Learning Uncle Vernon (LUV) alongside Common; Native and Prospect films. He has been seen on other major network television shows such as Law & Order, Elementary, Ugly Betty, and Scream Queens. Beyond Anwan’s presence in entertainment, the accomplishments closet to his heart are those charitable contributions he makes to the community including his work aimed to decrease the violence in the community of Washington, DC. Anwan was a member of Peaceoholics, an organization dedicated to positive outreach to the youth and violence prevention in the city of Washington, DC. The self-proclaimed “Youth Mayor,” also known as the “Ghetto Prince” and recognized by city advocates and given the “keys to the city” by past Mayor Adrian Fenty, November 20 is proclaimed as Anwan “Big G” Glover Day. He launched his very own sneaker with two releases under the Patrick Ewing brand so What’s next for Anwan Glover? He is a current member of the Taproot Artist and Alliance for California Traditional Arts Community, he has co-founded a non-profit “Hugs Not Slugs”, and he currently producing a documentary on his life amongst other projects.
